Racism is ultimately a form of xenophobic tribalism. Tribalism is innate in not just us but multitudes of organisms from mammals to insects. Essentially racism is a result of end group vs out group bias and the friend/enemy distinction. It is therefore actually beneficial to in group cohesion and safety within reason.
