Topic: How to get middle class employment?
+Anonymous A — 1 month ago #68,201
Literally all I want is a soul crushing office job so I can live a boring lifestyle with a house and a bitchy fat wife, how the fuck do I do this? It's insanely competitive just to get one's foot in the door and it's despair inducing trying to get decent employment. I'm working at the grocery store right now and disappointing my parents. It seems like you have to be perfect in the interviews and I always come off as awkward which kills my chances. My social anxiety is ruining me and I don't know what to do about it.

I never broke through, and it wasn't for lack of trying. I think the easiest way is to get employed at the low level accounting, marketing, or similar, put in 7,8, 10 years or whatever, then make a move for project lead, management, HR, etc.
I had similar trouble: too much retail experience and a choppy school record. I had to go blue collar in the end; too squirrelly for middlle class white collar.

As a side thought, I worked with a guy that put in 5 years as a security guard for the property, had a proven track record of meticulous documentation and was snapped up by the back office and now has a decent auditor gig.

Apply for jobs you don't care about just for interview practice.

@previous (E)
Half of society trusts a married person more than single if they're over 30 or 40 or whatever. Unless they're on divorce #3 or whatever, those types are their own species.
