Topic: I have no desire to compete
+Anonymous A — 4 months ago #68,083
I have no desire to compete, in games or life. It's exhausting, pointless, and I'd rather step aside. If being free means being a "loser," so be it. Society can try to pull me in, but I don't care. Rather take my time and enjoy myself in my own bubble than having to constantly try to get good. I know I know. quit bitching. I promise you I'am not. I'm simply saying that "good game" and i'm removing myself from play. I'm not cut for alot of stuff I gave it a good decent effort. its okay to way quit and walk away. I choose freedom and my personal happiness.

Alas as a loser you will never have something like this in your pathetic life.

the illusion that fulfillment has to be earned through grinding and competing. That worth is something external, proven by wins or by being "better" than someone else. That just being — existing, breathing, feeling — isn't enough without "achievements" stacked on top. I'm not checking out on life but i'm opting out of the game. i'm unsubscribing so to speak. If thats the closest to the "truth" then I'm exactly where I need to be and thats fine by me. At this point I dont have much else to say except it feels nice because I understand and I didn't waste time reading a bunch of self help books or watch videos to come to this.

I somehow feel something similar to what you said, sometimes I get a spike of motivation to do something but then I start to wonder if it's really worth doing it, since the end will be the same no matter what I do

motivation's not a bad thing but sometimes it creates the illusion that the "thing" you want to have/do is attainable through sheer will power and effort but the reality is what's been thought of or desired is currently in short supply because there's too much demand, too many tigers living in the same mountain. By the time you realize its best to move to another mountain, other tigers already beat you to it. It's like eldritch level chess. its exhausting. Thats why I'm starting to see the concept of "gatekeeping" exists in the first place. the less they know the better for you because then you dont have to worry whose coming the ladder to come take your place when all you have to do is kick it down. best you can do live with what you're comfortable with and be grateful for whatever you have left.

cooperation > competition. Survival through conflict resolution is better than playing a game where nobody wins. Though aggressors spin to maintain the illusion of power, the cost of conflict always amounts to loss for everyone involved.

wise choice
bodybuilding leads to steroid injections and women who do it look super freakish (I mean, so do men, but they also lose their fertility in the process, so it's hopefully not entering the gene pool)

well i dont want to do drugs so its a whole other thing to find a bodybuilding comp that tests properly cos whats the point of even going on stage if people are taking steroids its pretty disheartening. im pretty sure women also lose their fertility in that stuff

cooperation is rare. People need a strong enough incentive to cooperate. Even if it were something that would benefit all parties involved, often times not everyone shares the same vision. Society is too fried and jaded. Individualism is the current zeitgeist and the concept of "community, collaboration and cooperation" is lost among the noise. However I do agree with you.

Good points, but it seems those concepts weren't so much lost but perverted. When the phrase 'American Dream' was coined during the Depression it was about equal opportunity and dignity of all until hollywood made it about fame and a life of excess. Cooperation and competition are both necessary in nature for the survival of a species, in economics and in sport /combat scenarios, but the 'system of natural liberty' which informed our founding documents encourages both the principles of subsidiarity and solidarity. But with so many distractions these days, concensus doesn't appear to favor cooperation for survival's sake so much as the idea of dominance. Hope and labor lost.
