1000125039.jpgIt's been around 20 hours since I indulged in my addiction. I want to stop doing it. Let's see how I go.

Almost 24 hours without indulging in my addiction. It's a combination of a behaviour and substance. Not one or the other, always both.

I won't say what it is, but I can be bribed with US$200 in Bitcoin and a random number being one way (probability of success 50%).

Of course I have been obsessing about when to indulge again. It's fine for me infrequently. I may be partaking in a medical trial which requires an infusion of a liquid, twice. Either after the first infusion, or both. I'm not sure which. The trial could begin in 1-6 weeks.

I’m currently about 47 hours addiction free. Not particularly long then. I’ve decided when I will indulge in my addiction. When I get a new car battery. My current one is causing all sorts of stress. But I don’t have the money right now. I really hope that the medical study goes well with no delays. I’m due to see them on Wednesday for an examination and they’ll decide if I am worthy of taking part.

·OP, on his laptop4 months ago, 3 hours later, 1 day after the original post[T] [B] #674,344

So the study is for the skin disorder eczema. I’ve got it pretty bad. Did you know that you can get addicted to scratching? Anyway I’m giving myself a challenge. No scratching or rubbing. I rub because it has a sensation which is different from scratching, and the skin isn’t damaged. I want to stop both. You don’t want to know how bad my scratching is. I want to cease all scratching and rubbing. Starting in 5 minutes. I want one last scratching session.

I can’t stop scratching in my sleep so that’s excluded.

rubbing can cause friction damage though

I’m currently at about 76 hours from my last fix. Not craving yet. I think I won’t try to stop scratching, I’ll see if the addiction is causing me to scratch more. I’ll see if my scratching naturally decreases.

100 hours. The last time I achieved 100 hours was 12 days ago. So I've been trying.

If you have any damaged batteries from charging unused devices for several years, please note that their toxic fumes irritate the skin and can cause asthma in poorly-ventilated rooms.

@previous (C)

Yeah thanks I kind of knew that overcharged batteries outgassed fumes. It's not a problem right now, but thanks for the reminder.

Currently at 115 hours since my addiction.

Well I lasted 139 hours. I am planning something important which is starting today. I'm pleased with 139 hours although it could be double or triple that. I'm still planning on not having my addiction again until I get a new car battery, in a few days I'll know if I can take part in the medical study.

I had the introductory meeting and body mapping of my eczema. Apparently I’ve been accepted for the study but they want a blood and urine test first. By the way, if your blood pressure is measured as “high” you might want to get a few more readings, just in case the machine reads incorrectly. My blood pressure is normal but the first reading was false.

·OP, on his laptop4 months ago, 1 day later, 1 week after the original post[T] [B] #674,495

So I just had a huge scratching session. Maybe 40 minutes. This food, which I seem to be addicted to, may contain something I am allergic to. Yesterday I indulged. I started a new project, and wanted to celebrate. Today I did my regular Saturday morning run and I got a new lower time, and wanted to celebrate. Again. So I don’t know why I scratched for over half an hour. I trained myself to not scratch. Yes that’s actually possible and it seemed easier than expected. So if I celebrate for something, I need to eat elsewhere. Ideally, never do two days in a row.

I don’t know what is going on. I’ll figure it out. The sooner the better though.

Well, since you think you may have discovered the general source, you could have an allergist do some bloodwork to try and isolate what exactly it is you need to avoid.

I'll go to an allergist if I run out of other options.

Well I just indulged in my addiction and let's see how long I can go without it
