Topic: Black people and eating dogs

+Anonymous A8 months ago #67,964

You know how there was that whole racist thing about Haitians eating cats and dogs?

Well, actually, Africans and eating dogs is kind of interesting. In Nigeria, according to Yoruba religion, their god of war and iron, the orisha Ogun has a personality that is said to be dog like. Because a good soldier is supposed to be loyal like a dog. So before battle, the Yoruba people traditionally would cut a dog in half with a sword and then eat it. Before colonization, in the Oyo Empire, they also had a system of government where the Bashorun (prime minister) could order the Alaafin (king) to commit suicide.

They also had a somewhat unique sword design that was curved on both sides

Dog as meat is popular in China.

The tradition of eating dogs dates back thousands of years, even though they are often kept as pets. Each year in June, the city of Yulin in southern China hosts a dog meat festival, where live dogs and cats are sold specifically for eating and an estimated 10,000 are slaughtered for their meat.Apr 12, 2017
