Topic: If I wanted to deconstruct all my old electronics for spare parts what are some recommend toolkits?
+Anonymous A — 5 months ago #67,954
I have a couple old phones, laptops and game consoles but I dont wanna throw them away. Im thinking of salvaging the parts and maybe experiment with them. But mostly Im just trying to free up space in my apartment. Any recommendations regarding tools for that sort of thing would greatly appreciated. Thank you.

youd need a couple plastic opening tools(do not use screwdrivers/paintscrapers for this)
multiple sets of precision screwdrivers or bits-philips,flathead,torx, are the main ones, but you might also need some triangle security bits and triwing bits to deal with electronics that are specifically designed by twats.
a set of anti-static containers and mat(or keep a large piece of unpainted metal nearby to touch periodically, like a shelf with a patch of pàint removed)
...and lastly, you should probably nigger-rig a capacitor discharge tool, those little buggers will hurt like the dickens if you touch one that still has charge(and if your fucking about with appliances the charge can kill you). this does not need to be fancy.
