I honestly don’t really get the whole racist trope of comparing blacks to monkeys. I guess the thought is that blacks have dark skin, and chimpanzees and gorillas have dark skin and dark fur. Except, not all primates have dark skin and dark fur. There are monkeys in Japan for example that have light fur and light skin.

Darwin started it, but the Bolivian red howler is the coolest monkey. As an aside, if Lead Belly hadn't written a song about the The Scottsboro Boys, To Kill A Mockingbird wouldn't have been made and "woke" wouldn't in the American lexicon. But then no Lead Belly, no Dylan and no Beatles. I guess these cats get erased from the Smithsonian cos of the connection. Although, the really ironic thing is that black people eat monkeys in some parts of Africa. So you have two sides to the racism, white people dehumanizing black people by calling them monkeys, and then white people who are animal lovers being shocked by eating bush meat.

None of that matters. Regardless the United States will always see blacks as every single racist trope/stereotype there is. Even if presented with evidence of successful black people, as long as jamal from south side stole from target, they're all seem as the same.
