Why is talking to the moon or looking at the moon a romance cliche? Was there some freaky shit Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin got up to on the lunar surface that I’m not aware of?
The moon is often considered feminine. Women are considered spiritual. Which I guess why we consider it a heavenly body. Its mysterious and alluring. So when men for example talk to moon. They treat it as a woman of importance in their immediate moment. Maybe they needed the moon to be a mother, a wife, sister or friendship. Theres a lot historical reasons and meaning behind it but in a way its like the first romance story in human history and at its literary form: its a story of Unrequited love.
The moon also always makes us feel like we can relate to it due to our perception thats its "lonely".

The Greeks named Venus after the goddess of love… when the Soviets got there they found out how nice it is.
The moon has no gender because it's just an ASS.
