Topic: Is Mormonism just Jehovah's Witnesses for white people?

+Anonymous A5 months ago #67,856

Every time I met a Jehovah's Witness or a former Jehovah's Witness, they're always a person of color.

Where as every Mormon I met seems to be some white person.

A Mormon tried to convert me when I was preparing to be confirmed as a Catholic. Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses are similar in that they have no limits.

Mormons are so weird. Sometimes I feel like the Protestant reformation was a mistake.

I work near some Mormon temple and about once a month they seem to have a funeral and it's always Samoans. The last one had whole bunch of Mongols bikers. But yeah the ones I see riding their bikes tend to be young white dudes sometimes a Hispanic.

Is that where Mormonism first took its roots? :-O I also found out that Mormons baptize their dearly departed.

Have you ever seen any black Mormons?

+Anonymous F5 months ago, 1 hour later, 1 day after the original post[T] [B] #672,829

@OP
No for two reasons. While both Christian off shoots Mormonism predates the Jehovahs Witness by like 50 years and also is more radically divergent in its theology. I'd argue that the Church of Latter Day Saints is almost an another religion entirely due to their very strange beliefs. While the watchtower folks are more a very fringe cultish hertodox christian sect. Akin to the 7th day Adventists but weirder and more extreme and who they also share a history with.

My father was a 7th Day Adventist, but left the church for reasons I do not remember. This was before I was even born.

Mormons also believe that for how many wives you have is how many planets you get to be God over, right?

They believe a ton of insane shit. So if they do I would not be surprised.

No. But I've seen a few Hispanic dudes in the Nation of Islam selling their newspapers at a couple of intersections. I guess Farrakhan is running low on blacks
