Idk how to feel about the military. Because on the one hand, if you’re a normal citizen like me, it’s not socially acceptable to criticize the military because you’re supposed to be like "oh their brave sacrifices for our freedom." But at the same time, I mean, it is kinda fucked up we spend billions of dollars on machines to kill people on the opposite side of the planet but we have homeless people right here in our own country… and a lot of them are veterans. Just seems like bad priorities.

Then you have people like this asshole who became a billionaire at 24 using a TED talk to pitch his plan to use AI to make money off the US government by creating autonomous robots that kill people. And it’s like, you know what? That’s why I’m studying computer science. I’d rather be the asshole than be the guy bravely sacrificing for "freedom and democracy." I don’t even believe in that shit lol.

Like yeah I’ll program the missile guidance system, but don’t ask me my opinion on free speech cuz I don’t care. lol

All I’m saying is, I get that we’re supposed to respect soldiers because they’re doing something brave because they believe in something… but being a tragic romantic who would die for something they believe in is stupid. Smart people are cowards who get rich off of preying on other people. The brave people are just the victims of it.

Also being into technology is good, because if you’re the engineer working on the weapons, and America loses the war to China, you’ve still got a job.
