Topic: People that aren’t people

+Anonymous A6 months ago #67,373

I was just browsing the internet randomly and I came across some Reddit thread where people were talking about OpenAI’s new policy regarding sexual material that to "increase freedom" they’re going to allow anything sexual as long as it doesn’t involve children. And people were cheering that on. Now okay, my philosophy is that nobody is perfect, and people will do things that aren’t good. But, just because you do something that isn’t good for you doesn’t mean you need to lie to yourself and tell yourself that something which is bad for you is good for you. Do people watch porn? Sure. But is it good for them? No. Do people use AI when they should think for themselves? Yes. Is it good for them no.

Is giving away your data to a for profit company disguised as a non-profit with "open" in the name funded by billionaires and massive tech companies to re-organize words based on learned statistical correlations found in copyrighted material to algorithmically generate content to satisfy your sexual desires good for you because it "gives you more freedom?" If you think that, I’m just gonna assume you’re some freak of nature that can survive with air inside your skull or something. There’s literally nothing good or healthy in that for anybody.

It’s sorta similar to how I feel about prostitution. Obviously I think people who traffic prostitutes are morally reprehensible, and obviously paying for sex is morally worse than receiving pay for sex. But if you think about what kind of a job sex work is: it’s a job that requires no skill, no intelligence, no training, that creates nothing, involves no innovation, no creativity, it doesn’t save anybody’s life or make anyone healthier. Now, there are two reasons why somebody would do a job that requires no skills, either they do it because they have no alternative, or they do it, because even though they don’t have to, something inside them is lacking to the point where they don’t aspire to anything else. Both are depressing for different reasons, and some people want "freedom for the sake of freedom" and I’m gonna be honest, we live in a hedonistic society, and I’m not perfect myself, but that doesn’t mean I don’t find the entire prospect inherently depressing.

But then it’s like that, but once you include AI, it becomes even less human somehow.

Tbh I don’t even think calling it freedom makes sense anymore at this point. Cheering on an algorithm created by billionaires who stole content from people being able to generate sexual content doesn’t sound like freedom, it sounds like the first step to some totalitarian nightmare where the wealthy and powerful have enslaved everyone by algorithmically generating crap to appeal to their desires while they just get richer and richer. It’s like manipulating people into thinking slavery is freedom. People are so fucking stupid.

i suppose that its bad to hand your data away for a retarded fad, but at the same time, several events have already eroded away any real ownership of your privacy anyway, so its not like it matters that much.

Tbh I’m gonna start to have to start supporting it soon.

i absolutely hate how new CPUs and phones are being built with AIshit baked into the hardware. i dont want to have to become a luddite over this, but i also dont want to pay extra for this shit.

For real, it’s a waste of die space.
