Topic: Bad at fighting (in Minecraft)

So I’m an adult now, but I’ve been playing Minecraft every so often recently because I’ve realized that scrolling mindlessly on the internet through all types of idiotic stuff is kinda depressing. But when I was a kid trial chambers weren’t a part of the game. I get that you’re supposed to kill the monsters and take the loot. Except I haven’t found a way to fight them that isn’t completely suicidal. Like I’ll just set up a bed, take all my armor off, make a bunch of stone swords, and just take one with me at a time, do as much damage as I can until I die, respawn, take the next sword, run out again, and do as much damage as I can until I die. And I just repeat that a few dozen times and slowly I can clear an area out. But it seems like there’s gotta be a better way to do that, but I can’t figure out a better way to do that.

I managed to find some TNT underneath a pyramid, so I’m thinking maybe I could try blowing myself up in the middle of all of the skeletons and that would be faster.

Tbh this kinda makes me wonder if I was waging a war what ideas I’d come up with.

"Wait, body armor is expensive and our guys keep dying so let’s just send them in without body armor to save money!"

"Wait, ammunition is expensive and when our guys die they waste all the ammunition we gave them so let’s just give them a sword instead of a gun!"

"Wait, killing the enemy is really hard, but the enemy runs towards us, what if we send one guy out with a bomb strapped to his chest to run out over to the other side and blow himself up?"

Like I don’t think think I naturally have very good ideas about this stuff.

Because at first it seems like "oh it’s different because in Minecraft you can respawn but in real life you can’t respawn so you can’t think that way in real life." Until you think about it for a second. If you’re a general, you can always just draft up more people. So there might be some situations where, if you have a high enough population, it might actually make more sense to value conserving the cost of the equipment over the lives of the people. I think the Americans have this idea that "oh we’re rich so all our equipment is gonna cost a billion dollars and we’re gonna manufacture a load of it." But in an actual war, we can’t just keep building expensive stuff and then losing it. Eventually we’ll have to just start sending a guy out in a rusty truck with some explosives and be like, "Yeah just drive over there and blow yourself up." Maybe that’s actually the better strategy.

And generally, I’ve noticed that if you try to survive, it takes a lot longer, because every time you try and evade getting shot at by a skeleton, you’re actually just wasting time you could be using to do damage to them, because you’re probably just going to die anyway. So it makes more sense to not try to not get hit and just run directly at them.

CREEP.pngWhich platform version is this? I don't remember if I did trial dungeons but if you get a pack of wolves, one arrow comes at you and they'll murder a skeleton in 2 seconds. And skeletons really can't do much against wolves since they're ranged attackers and wolves are <1 meter tall. Plus, skeletons drop bones when they die and you can use those to breed some more wolves.
Zombies might take 4 seconds for a pack to kill, but you can feed the rotten flesh to the wolves to heal them.
Spiders can maybe escape wolves if there's a wall to climb, but they can't get through 1-meter wide doors, so it's easy enough to escape them if you just make the entrance 1x2.
Creepers need to be kept at a distance and shot though.
