Just because you were inside a ship that sunk, depending on the depth of the water, you could get trapped inside the ship without drowning.

At Pearl Harbor, it actually took one group of 3 guys 16 days to die inside a ship. And they know it took 16 days because they could hear them the entire time. 🙃
