A change which has occurred in the past 20 years is that Americans have stopped caring about the death counts associated with national emergencies and national tragedies. Instead, we only care how expensive it is. In 1945, the justification for bombing Hiroshima was that far more American lives were saved by not invading Japan. Today, if China nuked New York City, and somehow we didn’t respond in kind because they hacked our nuclear launch sites, the news the next day wouldn’t be, "Millions of Americans have been mercilessly burned alive by a cruel Chinese bomb." It would be:
"8 trillion dollars of property damage caused in an instant! Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell Technologies lost his wife who was in his in his 100 million dollar New York penthouse while he was on a business trip to Hong Kong. Michael, what are you feelings after this horrible tragedy?"
"People have been saying this tragedy is a bad thing for America because of all the deviation and destruction. But look, here is what I see: I see the greatest investment opportunity in American history. We can rebuild a better New York which promotes international tourism. I’m talking luxury stores, high end retailers, luxury apartments and hotels."

Too much liability to put yourself out there. The minute you show any heart, one of the bleeding hearts sends the godundme link your direction (notice they're good at spending other people's money).

Disregard that, this video is the very essence of American culture.
