Topic: Feasibility of the survivability of the surface of Venus

+Anonymous A9 months ago #67,050

People often say that it wouldn’t be possible for a human to survive on the surface of Venus. The surface of Venus has an atmospheric pressure 90 times the surface pressure on Earth. However, the most high pressure saturation diver survived being pressurized to 71 atmospheres on a breathing gas called heliox which is basically a combination of helium and oxygen.

Interestingly, 9 atmospheres of pressure is enough to squeeze a human body through a 5 inch gap, sucking out all the internal organs, folding a person in half, scraping their skin off, including their face, and only leaving their esophagus and a section of small intestine behind. So it’s fun to think about the kind of shenanigans you could get up to at 90 atmospheres. The titan submersible collapsed at 400 atmospheres.
