Yesterday, I was bored so I went on emeraldchat to talk to random people. I got connected to some guy who’s the same age as I am 21 from southern Louisiana who said he voted for Trump because he wanted to be a Marine since he was 8, but he couldn’t join the military because he was autistic and he blames Joe Biden for it. Apparently, he didn’t know he was autistic but he just found out when he was going through his medical records to apply for joining the military. He’s thinking of going to Israel and joining the IDF since he’s a Jew and said he doesn’t have a problem with Zionism or anything and since he can’t get into the US military. So now he’s just talking college courses and he hates it. He said he feels like he might be stuck in southern Louisiana forever and he hates it.
He wasn’t a bad guy or anything, I can respect people who are totally different from me. But that was interesting to see somebody who’s the same age as me who’s just like totally the opposite of me. It made me think about stuff. Like I’ve never wanted to be in the military, and I’ve thought about leaving the US for totally opposite reasons. I didn’t mention that, but it’s interesting though. Some people’s brains are wired differently. I guess since he’s autistic that’s literally true. Autism isn’t a bad thing, don’t misread that.

The prospect of trying to join the military out of high school because you don’t want to go to college is interesting. Generally, where I’m from, the way it works is you go to college to get out of the military.

I tell anyone that is stuck in that kind of situation: work and save money. Get $5,000 in the bank and make a move from there, start applying for jobs out of state. Remote jobs are on the decline right now with the return to office push so that's less viable unfortunately.
