I’m only saying this here because I can’t say it in real life and I don’t want it attached to me, but I feel like I want to get it out.

I don’t like libertarianism because I don’t like hedonism. People defend freedom as if freedom for the sake of freedom is good, but it’s not. The people who defend their freedom the most are always the most pathetic people. I don’t agree with racism or eugenics. But, there is such a thing as life unworthy of life. I get that everyone falls into hedonism at some point, but there are two paths: either you can confess that you’re failing yourself or you can try to justify it. The idea of freedom is a perversion of the meaning of life. The point of life is to accomplish something. The point of life isn’t to do whatever you want.

Honestly, I feel like if I was a leader with unlimited power, I’d burn useless people who contribute nothing but demand rights.

Really, these desires, hedonistic desires, desires for sex, drugs, saying whatever you want without consequences, they aren’t real desires. They’re crutches in place of real desires. Someone might drink or smoke or watch porn or complain on the internet because they don’t have something they want. But really it’s a crutch. You don’t want these things because you really in your heart of hearts want these things. It’s because they’re second place to what you really want.

Like for example, most people have probably gotten in an argument on the internet about politics at one point or another. Do you really want freedom of speech to complain about politics, or do you really only desire your freedom to complain because you don’t have the power to make decisions for your country? If you were the emperor of the world, would you ever say you want freedom of speech?

Or for example, if you had meaningful connections with other people in your life, and you were loved, admired and respected, and had a healthy relationship with a romantic partner, and never felt deprived of human contact or intimacy, would you ever say that you need porn?

You know what I mean? It’s like, there this instinct inside us, this vicious, jealous, angry, fighting instinct to take what we want. But Christianity told us that being jealous was wrong. So then we weren’t jealous. But Christianity still told us to be pure. But then people couldn’t handle not having a vice. So then people rejected Christianity in the name of "freedom" so they could have their vices. But your vices were never what you actually originally wanted in the first place.

Like honestly, one of the moments in life I won’t forget. Is there was another website, where I had been arguing with people, and it got really vicious. And then, I found a vulnerability that let me post from other peoples accounts. I could modify or delete anyone’s post. Then I realized, I don’t actually care about what people think because I desire to be loved by other people. I only care about what people think because I don’t have power over them. But if I had the power to make anyone say anything I wanted, then I wouldn’t feel anything.

I’m not saying I’m an authoritarian or anything, but there’s something about libertarian thinking that is really deeply flawed I think. But we should be able to say that.

Really, the idea behind freedom, is that freedom is good as long as you aren’t restricting someone else’s freedom, and autocracy is bad because it restricts someone else’s freedom. But humans desire power first, and only desire freedom when they do not have power. In a society that values freedom, it is possible to have peace. For example, freedom of religion. Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, and atheism aren’t all true at the same time, so "freedom of religion" is a logical impossibility. Everyone can’t decide their own reality to live in and all be correct. But it prevents conflict. The will to power is innately human, but the powerful have told the powerless that to desire power is evil to preserve the status quo. Really, if you decide to actually exert your will to power, you will have to fight, and either it will be you or someone else who wins. There isn’t space for everyone to be successful. Some will and some won’t. In a fight there are winners and losers. And maybe you hate the thought of fighting. But maybe, something which you hate can be good for you. And maybe you love the thought of hedonism and an easy high feeling good off of pathetic things. But maybe something which feels good can be bad for you.

And maybe, if some will live, and some will die, it might be a more satisfying existence to die fighting for yourself than it is to live at the mercy of your own desires enslaved by your own failings.

Really, this is the thing I like about Friedrich Nietzsche though, the idea of self overcoming. People want to be free from everything except themselves. But if you can’t even defeat yourself, you’re never going to defeat the world.

It's more of a coping mechanism than a crutch. As for porn, it's because I want warm intimate cuddles, I had a lot of gay fantasies when I was younger without really admitting it because I was afraid of coming out of the closet so I kept pretending I was straight to look normal so no one would bully me, I was very confident in the belief I was straight as a teen that I forced myself to get a girlfriend so I could brag about it to my parents but that didn't happen thankfully, and there were also lots of fetishes in movies and cartoons we used to watch where writers would disguise as jokes or part of the plot (gender swap, feet tickling, rope bondage, furries, inflation, feederism, burps and farts, vore, transformation, micro/macro size change) that did have an influence on me. However, I just don't get it why people would regularly drink and smoke all the time, it comes with serious long-term health consequences, it's as if they want to die faster.

@OP
Is this a power trip of yours? Where everyone becomes your slave, turning them into your followers, and to kill anyone who challenges your authority, similar to what a Reddit moderator or a 4chan janitor would do.

On your first point: that doesn’t really contradict what I said. If you were gay but were afraid of being yourself in real life so you had to use porn as a crutch instead of having what you really wanted, that’s the same thing.

On your second point: I’m not a control freak, but some people need to get beat down into a ditch. I’m just being honest here, I wouldn’t feel bad about it. Some people have it coming.

Really the point isn’t coping mechanism vs crutch (really one is just a euphemism for the other), the point is that you would have been happier if you grew up in an environment where you weren’t afraid of being gay in the first place.

·Anonymous D10 months ago, 6 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[T] [B] #664,059

@previous (D)
And really, the point I’m making is, of course it’s obvious you would have been happier for example if you were allowed to just be gay openly without fear, and of course it’s obvious that you don’t have control over other people. But wouldn’t you be better off if you did?

·Anonymous D10 months ago, 2 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[T] [B] #664,061

@previous (D)
And my point about "some people will be left others won’t" is that, just because you try, doesn’t mean you will succeed. But wouldn’t you feel better for trying?

@664,059 (D)
> But wouldn’t you be better off if you did?
No, because you said it yourself: “Your vices were never what you actually originally wanted in the first place.”
It doesn't make me accomplish anything in life, maybe I would get a friend who can help me and take care of me if that were to be the case. Even gay people can boast about how much sex they're having (while you don't), but what do you get from it besides pleasure? Is it weird to take computer hobbies seriously on the other hand? It's like a desire to leave one's legacy behind up on the internet before you die, we've got nothing better to do, most of people are on their phones every day and do nothing else.

In the case of being gay for example since you mentioned it, that is something where ambition could align with a desire to be accepted. For example, in a lot of countries, a lot of homophobic sentiment comes from government policies and the media which in some way are controlled by political parties. If part of your life experience is that you feel like you have to escape real life because you don’t feel accepted, it is possible that someone could become a successful person with a will to power for something in government, to affect policy that would make the lives of people like you easier. It is possible.

@previous (D)
And obviously that’s hard, and it most likely wouldn’t work, but somebody’s gotta do it. You know what I mean?

·Anonymous D10 months ago, 4 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[T] [B] #664,069

Really what I’m trying to say but idk how to say it is, the people in power want us to be defending our freedom to partake in our various vices and coping mechanisms or whatever instead of doing the other thing which is replacing them.

·Anonymous D10 months ago, 5 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[T] [B] #664,070

Also like: we exist. Why deprive ourselves of ambition and settle for what the people we don’t like told us we could have? Isn’t it morally just that we should fight?
