There’s a difference between the probability that two random tripcodes will have n digits match and the probability that a random tripcode will match an already predetermined tripcode. It’s like the problem: if there’s a 50% chance a child is a boy or a girl, and you know that a family has two children, and the first is a girl, what is the probability that the second child is a boy?
Edit: I cited the problem wrong - it’s if there are three children and the first two are girls, then the odd that the third child is a boy isn’t 50% anymore.

I meant which is more likely, the racist spammer has the final two digits the same as me (one in about 4000) or they chose a password so people might think it's me (the parody guy) rather than someone else. They did the same for Crazy Goth Girl, but used the final 3 characters.

Basically: the probability that one random tripcode would match another random tripcode is lower than the probability that one random tripcode will match a predetermined tripcode. So it’s much more likely that it was intentional rather than accidental. It would be easier for someone to intentionally try to brute force the last two digits than it would be to see it happen randomly.

It was designed to look like your tripcode, not to be the same as your tripcode. It was based on minimum edit distance not based on number of exactly matching digits. That’s why it has a capital Z and a 3 near the beginning but in a different order.

Checking for matching digits by using the hamming distance would be an O(n) task, but using the Levenshtein distance is an O(n^2) task.
