Topic: Mao Famines

I’ve heard people cite the statistic before that "Mao killed 60 million people." It turns out that’s due to a famine between the years of 1959 to 1961 which resulted in 15 to 55 million deaths (depending on the source). So okay, that sounds like a lot of deaths. But at the same time, in 1960, China had a population of 650 million. If 15 million people died in the famine, that’s 2.3% of China’s population. If 55 million people died in the famine, that’s 8.5% of China’s population. That seems like kind of a big difference. You’re talking about 2% vs almost 10%.

If Mao killed 60 million people through famine, by the same logic you could say Trump killed a million Americans through disease. And I’m not saying that to defend Mao, I’m actually just insulting Trump. And that is the entire reason I brought this up.

Tbh Mike Tyson might legitimately be the only man on Earth who loves Donald Trump and Mao Zedong at the same time. And you know what? Nobody is brave enough to tell him otherwise.

If Trump killed a million people (he didn't), that would still have been less than 0,1% of America's population. His numbers would literally be irrelevant next to Mao's. Trump could well be called a saint. Although I'm against his canonisation.
But once again, your argument is terrible, if only because you decided to tie it to numbers and percentages. If you simply said "killing people bad", that would've been much more consistent.

1 million out of 330 million is actually 0.3% and 0.3% is not less than 0.1% so you’re actually wrong.

You're right. My whole argument stood on a math error. Quite a shameful showing.
