Topic: How to stop randomly falling asleep after taking medicine that makes you drowsy during the day???
+Anonymous A — 10 months ago #66,437
I am taking medication for my cough and 1 off the side effects is that it makes you drowsy. As a result I have been randomly falling asleep in the middle of the day whenever I take it. There is no non drowsy version of it and I can't take it with other medications.
As long as I have a cough I'm gonna have to take this medication which is for god knows how long.
My life is too short to waste away from constantly randomly falling asleep like this!!!!! As a result of the medication's side effects I have been going to bed early.
How do I get myself to stay awake after taking my meds?????

Take them before bed since you gotta sleep then anyway?

Scheduling the important stuff, setting alarms, and sleeping for the rest isn't the worst approach. You'll get better faster.
If I'm sick I plan on sleeping it off myself.

This too. Trying to stay awake while sick isn't really worth it when you're miserable. Better to just sleep a lot and get better sooner so you can get back to whatever it is you want to do.
