OpenAI be like
Chatbots: *invented in the 1960s*
Neural networks: *invented in the 1970s*
1.) AI is dangerous
2.) Google will probably create AI
3.) We should build AI before a big evil company like Google does it!
4.) Building AI is too expensive :(
5.) Let’s create a non-profit organization and get funding from big evil companies so we don’t have to make profit!
6.) Oh wait, people actually use this? Let’s turn our non-profit into a for profit company! That way we can keep all the profit that we aren’t even making in the first place because neural networks are computationally inefficient and waste huge amounts of electricity.
The media:
"Sam Altman, you are a genius, and what you are working on is groundbreaking. You are a visionary. Will AI destroy humanity?"
Sam Altman: "I am very concerned about AI safety. Text on a screen could end the human race because the neural network might be so smart it finds a way to escape your computer and destroy humanity with nothing but words."
Society:
"HOLY SHIT ALL OUR JOBS ARE GOING TO GET TAKEN! I CAN’T FIND A JOB BECAUSE AI HAS REPLACED EVERYBODY! I HAVE A COMPUTER SCIENCE DEGREE FROM A COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN NEBRASKA, WHY AM I NOT AS RICH AS ELON MUSK!!?!!!"
The job market:
"…inflation is pretty high. Huh? No we blocked ChatGPT on our office WiFi because we don’t want our developers giving away code to ChatGPT since Microsoft is a competitor and Microsoft has significant stake in OpenAI."
The government:
"What if we could select targets to bomb using AI so that our troops aren’t slowed down by the guilt of making the decision to bomb civilians themselves?"

It was dumb when appliances became wifi enabled, it's still dumb stuffing AI into everything.

These WiFi enabled things are blah. I want a future where they are locally controlled by a server at the residence or business or whatever. You do not need half these things to connect to the internet they should just be controlled locally.
> ya but what about if I want to control things remotely?
Port forward and if you must, cloud flare or something to protect your home network, it’s possible just as it was in 2005 even with more security plus you won’t have something a company can monetise AFTER you made the purchase.

You know what’s smarter than all that? Put the security cameras on the outside of your house instead of the inside of your house.

Some people put security cameras inside their house, but if you buy insecure webcams, sometimes the feed of the webcams is just publicly available to the internet through an ip address, and there are certain things you can search for on google that will give you results with webcam ip addresses. But there are also some websites that have lists of known insecure webcam ips you can scroll through. This website won’t have the insides of peoples houses though, but if you do a bit of digging for what terms to google, you can find them sometimes. (Some security cameras even let you control them, I think I broke one by mistake on top of a building somewhere when I was a teenager.)

Like this one for example
http://109.206.96.249:8080/
If you search:
intitle:"webcam 7" inurl:"8080" -intext:"8080"
You get pretty good results. From this list of google dorks:

There was a Japanese poster on ylilauta known as 'security cam jap' because his hobby was watching unsecured security cams and then he'd post screencaps of funny stuff he saw.

Oddly enough the Japanese seem to have a lot of insecure security cameras.
