Sometimes I have this thought. Fear doesn’t really make sense. Because what’s the worst thing that can happen to you? You die. But death is inevitable. So what’s the point of being afraid? Being afraid isn’t going to prevent the inevitable. Nothing is worse than what is already guaranteed.

I guess there is some argument to be made that we can fear suffering more than fearing death. But the thing is, we can always kill ourselves. So suffering is almost always optional. There are very few (and very statistically unlikely) scenarios where you will be consciously suffering and unable to kill yourself. So any pain you’ve ever felt in your life is pain that wasn’t enough for you to decide to kill yourself. So anything that’s less than the worst thing you’ve ever experienced must be tolerable. But then if you think about how often you’re actually in as much physical or emotional pain as the worst experience in your life, it’s really not that often. So probably the suffering we will experience in the future will be comparable to the suffering we have already experienced in the past. So most likely, there is actually no reason to be afraid of anything, actually.

As a bonus, when really bad things happen locally, it happens to everyone. It tempers some of the blow - technocrats still need eyeballs for ads so they can't let us all die yet.
I guess they could just put a giant screen over our allotted gruel tables... ugh. I take it back, it can get worse.

More or less, about 2 out of 3 people will die from either cancer or heart failure. Heart failure might be uncomfortable, but not for very long, because it won’t take too long for you to fall unconscious from the lack of oxygen to your brain while you are dying from a heart attack. Cancer can be worse, but really, when you get to the point where your organs start shutting down and they’re doing transplants and putting you on life support, more than likely you’ll be in a medically induced coma anyway, so it’s not like you’re gonna feel it, so you won’t really be "suffering."

Tbh that’s the thing about war though like, all these guys from past generations, veterans, like World War Two or Vietnam or whatever, culturally we’re obligated to respect them for some reason. But basically, if you think about it, hypothetically, if I was drafted right? I could either deal with the hardship of braving the weather and the enemy, feeling fear at every moment, losing my buddies, all that… or I could just shoot myself as soon as they give me a loaded gun and then the war is over for me. You get what I’m saying? What’s the point of fighting a war when you can just die? People say the Japanese during World War Two didn’t make sense because of the whole suicide thing but like… Americans kill themselves right now when there’s no war. People will shoot up schools and then kill themselves. People don’t pay attention to that, a lot of school shootings are actually suicides, but they wanna take others with them to make dying less scary. Imagine living through an actual war where another country is firebombing your cities. Obviously you’d want to die. Duh.

You have to wonder... on purpose? There was the claim that they were in our face as a method of instilling fear and control. Why remove that tactic now I wonder.

According to Wikipedia as of November there were 648 mass shooting deaths in America in 2024.
So yep. Definitely not making the news these days. Meanwhile in Japan if one person gets shot it’s news because they don’t have guns. Imagine if Asians discovered America instead of white people. Although alt right weirdos say it’s because of Japanese "culture." Like they literally don’t have guns, it doesn’t matter WTF your culture is, if you don’t have a gun you can’t shoot somebody, you have to be a fucking brain dead vegetable to not understand that. That’s the other thing though, I haven’t met as many retarded Asians. I’m starting to sound racist against white people now but I swear I’m not. I love you guys. White people are amazing.
White people -> 👻💕😀<- me

And note, I said not as many. Meaning I have met a couple. Just so that we are clear.

I think that's what converted me, I was one of those 2nd ammendment dorks for probably 10 years, but I also like numbers. The numbers don't lie: less easy access to weapons = less dead people.
> White people -> 👻💕😀<- me
Aww shucks. You ain't half bad yourself.

Tbh my family is funny because they’re all liberal but they’ve been buying guns lately. They swear guns are bad, but they’re going to the range for target practice. I guess the thought is, "well they all have guns so maybe we should too." Really, it’s just a spiral. People getting guns because other people have guns even though they wouldn’t have wanted guns if other people didn’t have guns. It’s never gonna end at this point. Lol
