it's just full of stuck up teenagers and emotionally unstable adults

We need a public version of Discord where chat rooms can be indexed by search engines, that has no community guidelines, and can be used without an account. More fun and more activity! It's like a real-time imageboard but with more features and supports every file type.

@OP
Had a few hobby groups use it and it absolutely feels like wearing pool floaties online.

I'm only on there for a Melkor Mancin group but outside of that it's pretty much like every other social platform trash heap.

taking into account op's points, i don't have too many other reservations about it
it's super popular and there's a wide range of topics and areas you can get a glimpse into through it.
i think for adults who are my age who don't use the internet, the point where i was like early 20s (early 30s now) was like ok you use the internet a lot that's kind of strange, is where now it'd be like, ok that's pretty concerning you're using that, discord is a platform for children

I've been in a minecraft irc channel a for the last 7 or so years, and discord basically killed it. There used to be a discord bridge bot, but over time most people have switched to discord to the point where they had to assign admin to an idler just to keep it from de-regging. Then at some point the bridge bot stopped working and now it's nothing but ping timeouts and the very occasional CHANFIX message. Can't remember the last time anybody actually sent a message.

I keep wanting the magic that AIM and Yahoo chats had - Discord isn't quite that.

Because Discord has no fancy skins (unless you use a third-party client but they're against that for some reason, greedy company), raster fonts, pixel-perfect bitmap icons, animated emotes with sound, multiplayer Flash games, etc.
