That's why save states were invented.

Maybe, but I had a habit of save-cheesing to get through hard parts back in the day.

i love to play videogames and also quicksave every second I have it bound to my side keys of my mouse and it feels great because the stutters help me input buffer and not die making you wonder why it's a save function to begin with instead of a lagswitch. This is deus ex btw.

To be honest I'd always save before leader fights in pokemon but then I'd end up getting so much xp before I blacked out that I'd just take the financial hit and go again instead of resetting.
