I remember when all he did was support her and that included going as far as to use her preferred pronouns. It seems like it was when Catherine started to suspect that Syntax was grooming her for something, that's when he changed his tune. Suggesting she watch children at the playground was kind of an odd piece of advice for someone who had aspirations of becoming a parent. It was almost as if his intention was to sabotage Catherine and get her suspected of being a child molester or some other perverted person. The difference being that we barely know much about Catherine's recent life. Sure, she was practically an open book about it years ago, but now the only thing we know for certain is that she has a mundane job as a dishwasher that is miles from her place of residence. It intrigues me that Syntax cares that heavily about some dishwasher. Even if it's only whenever her name is brought up in conversation. His focus seems to remain tethered to Matt's or the now passed Bert's. This guy clearly cannot let things go.

I have no reason to suspect that Cato is Catherine, or the very least, the original Catherine. His story alone seems fabricated with a lot of what Catherine posted about in the past. He forged his own identity based upon this information. Though this person potentially is the only one who has this obsession over the trans girl. Not even Syntax dwells on her that much.
