How do I become a monk in the desert or an ascetic in the woods
I don't think I want to deal with humans anymore

I hear Alaska is good for that kind of thing.

nothings particularly stopping you but yourself.

Absolutely not true
Society is stopping me. Every day I have to see the faces of other people and it's exhausting
It's nowhere near as bad as having to talk to them though

you absolutely can right now build a little hovel in a swamp or forest and get your enlightenment on. the only thing stopping you is your own empty words.

The monk thing would get boring fast though. Start small like renting a campsite for a weekend or putting a tent out on a mountain - you'll be over it in a couple of days.

Society isn't forcing you to see other people, society is other people.
You can live in the woods, but it's difficult and boring.
