yeah...I'd write that off. Had to drop a few because of that in the last 5 years. It's one thing doing favors, its another thing if you never once spoke with them outside of a favor and not so much as sending a funny shitpost meme. seems like nowadays you're more likely to get bird shit on your head than find an a real functioning friendship.

I did that for someone without any strings once. They were good people but we got busy - still got him the interview.
I had another one that went less well - it was one of those hotel conference room investment scheme situations. The guy squandered his degree, he could have been managing those hotels and tourist stops instead of selling scams in the rented halls.
