Topic: [r/TinyChan] The real reason why people play video games
+Anonymous A — 1.4 year ago #65,095
is because of the wonderful environment they're in, being able to interact with others as a means to socialize to compensate for being alone and isolated IRL, being able to express yourself more clearly with avatars, items, actions, etc. The ambience, soundscapes, aesthetics, overall immersive experience. So why can't websites be like this as well? Why should it all be text-based when there's potential for more dynamic and interactive content?
I can see the truth, FOMO practices being done by large MMO corporations used to exploit lonely people who have nothing else going on in their lives to extort their money. If we want the good kind of escapism, make it instantly accessible like how shitposts, TikToks and maymays are easily shared.
P.S. I haven't been drinking enough water FYI
give me my upvote or something :-)

Video games are spyware that add new hot 'n' sexy characters with every upcoming update based on what kind of porn is found in your search history to coerce you into installing those sex and vore mods.

It's like anything (IRL/meatspace or online), you have to discern who is trying to exploit you or if the transaction is fair. Some would argue algorithms and data mining were the fall of the internet (tiktoks).
