I usually set my wallpaper to a solid color nowadays, detailed pictures as desktop backgrounds can be quite annoying (e.g. filenames on top of white colors, or icons that match the BG color, also makes you more identifiable in screenshots).

My computer is 10 years old and still has the default wallpaper that it shipped with, partially because what @previous (B) saidAlso because I have some many different windows/folders open that I only really see it when booting or shutting down.

Ironically the default wallpapers that came from the computer manufacturer are pretty sometimes. I haven't changed my lenovo yoga one. I like it the way it is.

I'm constantly rotating Linux distros and the backgrounds can't stay on there. I'm boring enough on my own, last thing I need is everyone thinking I like crappy bridge or park photos some digital nomad snapped while making $17,000 / year in South America somewhere.
