My theory is that it was a safety feature in a world that doesn't care, pays you less, and doesn't respect you enough as a member of society. The sad part is that they didn't rise above that, and instead we have zoomer politics and an internet filled with iPhone/tiktok users so they kinda earn it when they get shit on.
