How do we stick it to soppy and make a cool autistic imageboard with Finns?
+Anonymous B — 1.7 year ago, 16 minutes later[T] [B] #649,340

i have been thinking of making one and am kinda halfway developing one with a partially yli-inspired UI already but im a bit hesitant on continuing working on it because i fear that if it gets popular i'll have to spend all my free time moderating and fixing it.
there's also three semi-active finnish imageboards other than yli. mentioning any of them on yli is of course haram and gets your ass instantly banned because soypsy is a jerk. unfortunately all of them suck for various reasons:
https://vastalauta.org
this one is the most active of all three but has a shitty social media UI and has no int board and the UI is in finnish only.
https://minilauta.org
does not have an int board either but at least the admin has considered adding one in future. UI is the nicest of the three imo but that's not a high bar
https://loistolauta.org
this one has int but is the least active and also uses vichan which has pretty ugly UI imo

That would be cool if you made one, but it's understandable if you are weary of moderating/fixing/etc. on the off-chance of it becoming popular. I was a mod on an old, now defunct imageboard and it was annoying at times. It's a shame that soppy fucked up the board so much, or whoever he sold it to did. I am not sure if I even believe the rumor that he's not calling the shots anymore. I just like hanging out with autistic Finns.

there is an /int/ here, but i think it would probably make more sense to just use this board. i really like the UI on yli though and it'll be hard to part with it. the sad part is, even with a gold account on yli now, /int/ is dead.

I too have a rough alpha version of my own imageboard up and running and i stopped for the same reason. What a pain in the ass it would turn into. Unless the site turns into a closed invited only setup, i don't see how it can become successful.

I mean, if the point is to transfer the yli userbase to a sopsy-free board, then it's just a matter of surreptitiously convincing yliers that moving to a new board is a good idea. And getting banned a lot in the process. That part is hard. I was part of getting 78chan users to 99chan and that whole imageboard transfer. I also helped create and get the word out about 7chan way back in the day. People are bitches about that whole moving imageboards thing lol. "Why? I don't wanna. Go away. Spam! Report, report, report. Let me wallow in shitty posts and unusable boards. Waah." It's doable and ultimately worth it. But it's always hard to get these things going and gaining traction.

I'll never understand that level of autism. Just spend your whole day posting about how shitty the board has become but will fight to the death to defend it when offered an alternative. Truly next level retardation.

I think another thing I want to find is a similar atmosphere of ylint. The culture there is unique and nearly all posts contain users that just play along with the shitposting and mutate and evolve memes. Its why i stuck around.

Agree absolutely. I've been on imageboards since 2004, after having learned about "this new 4chan thing" on SomethingAwful forums shortly after 4chan was created. Yli has a unique thing going, so it would be important to convince and import that userbase to anything new, which is, again, a massive headache and hassle. I would be on board with attempting this, but it does have a high likelihood of failure. But not trying has 100% failure rate.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to implement an 'int thread' checkbox when creating threads which would cause flags to be displayed. It could be a nice solution as it puts more eyes on all threads, rather than keeping 2 isolated "boards".

That's really what made it attractive to me, is it wasn't just another board full of 4chan reposts but actually different and unique creations. Tinychan used to be like that, but it seems like all the other users who knew the unique TC memes have moved along and now it's stagnated to just being a regular forum with a somewhat unorthodox layout.

I've been lurking and bumping threads for a couple days now. I like the UI and feature set. Gotta cultivate the memes now.
