10 years for check fraud. Did you find your lawyer handing out business cards at Walmart or something?

didnt happen, might come as a shock to you but prison isn't like that unless your name is TJ

pretty boring, you run out of stuff to read quickly, i think i ended up reading 4 books a day simultaneously, they give you tablets now so everything is on that but i had a phone most of the time too, basically everyone did and guards didn't really give a shit unless you were causing a problem, pretty laid back for a prison which is something i never thought i'd say, there weren't any fights or anything like that cause we kinda had it good and if you cause any amount of trouble they ship you out to some hard facility so nobody got down like
e: also someones probably gonna ask about showers, it wasn't some thing where they shove a bunch of guys in all at once, there were multiple showers but they had their own stalls and their own door so nobody was getting raped or stabbed. TBH i was taken back cause the whole facility where I did my time is what I imagine those prisons in nordic countries are like except a bit shittier

i didnt go to trial and plead guilty because it would have taken longer and i could have potentially got more time and end up doing it in a much worse facility with murderers and shit. I knew I was gonna be locked up no matter what so it didn't make sense to try and fight it. I already had a lawyer anyways if for some reason I was gonna go that route. They got me a public defender but i fired him almost immediately and basically just said forget it and plead guilty. Another reason I didn't take it to trial was that it wasn't like I was gonna be out while awaiting the trial so i would have had to wait a year or two or even more in jail before it even started and the jail i was initially held in (two weeks) was way worse

So you were sentenced to 10 years and you served a full 10 years?

No because that isn't how parole works, you dont go to prison and automatically get eligible for parole, it depends on the crime, plea, how many years etc.

Tell us more about the crime you committed. For how long and how much. (did you stash some of it away?)
