Gen I is good, but the graphics are low-rent and there's a lot of missing QoL stuff. Gen II is kind of the pinnacle, but III is still decent. Gen IV is OK I guess, but all the battle animations that I've seen are basically just variations of colored blurry circles in motion.

Yes. Also the Pokémon TCG 2 is really good, but you'll need to find a fan translation patch because it was never actually released outside Japan.
