It appears that they are one step closer from being acquired by Disney since it seems like Disney+ is going to be the exclusive home to future Doctor Who episodes.

This isn't the first time that the BBC worked with Disney as episodes from David Tennant's first tenure as The Doctor aired on Disney XD as well as an original spin-off centered around K-9.

Disney also had interest in acquiring Doctor Who in the '90s which would have saw a revival and a new doctor that is different from the ones we know today.

Considering that David Tennant is now back as the Fourteenth Doctor, perhaps, there was some "creative input" by a Disney executive for his return.
