Topic: Neil Tyson is totally in the Dark about AI
+Anonymous A — 2.8 years ago #63,424
So they are talking about AI, and Neil mentions he believes it can't write music. They mention students using AI to write essays and stuff, Neil is like suddenly blaming the school for caring more about grades than the actual student, and that even if students do that they won't be functional in jobs anyway. No big deal.

The AI cannot write essays that won't get the students caught, but there are ways of getting it to write an essay in your words if you plan an elaborate algorithm to use as a prompt. The only problem is that this is entirely pointless since such algorithms and structure take up as much time as writing the essay itself. So you might as well just write the damn essay yourself.

AI did this just for our "ducky." AI was assisted by added intelligence.
Here is a song I wrote about a "Lady of the evening named Ducky:
She goes by the name of Ducky
She works on the streets of the city
She sells her "Charms" for money
But she dreams of a different life
She takes great pride in her work
She has a heart of gold
But she feels so cold
She wants to find someone who loves her
But she doesn't know how to trust
She sings a sad song every night
She hopes that someone will hear her plight
She wishes for a better tomorrow
But she doesn't know how to change
She goes by the name of Ducky
She works on the streets of the city
She sells her "Charms" for money
But she dreams of a different life
She sings a sweet song every night
This makes her feel loved and alright
She promises herself a better tomorrow

Google made an AI that makes music from a text description of what you want to hear.

Not true, they can't detect AI written essays, the tools claiming to do that fail both ways. They miss AI generated text, labelling it real, and mislabel human-written essays as AI generated.
If you're really trying to hide it, the AI can tell you what it thinks AI generations look like. It mentions neutral objective tone, and precise speech. But you can just instruct it to make it biased, or use vague language, or add a specific type of writing to make it look less like that.
Besides, many people naturally write the same way the AI does. Distinguishing between the two is not possible.

AI does not get paid for its work.
