She should ask people. Imagine walking along the street, knocking on doors and asking for food. A day's food might only take 30 minutes, or less.
I go regularly to a country where begging is common. But knocking on a door and asking for food is not begging, because you risk rejection and you also risk people wanting to actually get to know you. That's not begging which is holding out your hand basically.
