I know that OP is trolling, which is pretty standard practice here and not to be frowned upon. However, asking Google "are humans descended from apes" the answer is "Did humans evolve from apes? No. Humans are one type of several living species of great apes. Humans evolved alongside orangutans, chimpanzees, bonobos, and gorillas."

So according to my 10 seconds of research, humans are in the great ape group of species.

I'm still thinking that you are trolling. There's nothing wrong with trolling, it's a fine art which can create a lot of enjoyment.

For those except OP who don't actually know the answer (I guess my niece is included in this) if one genetic mutation results in an improvement (usually it's a reduction in quality) then it's only for that individual and their descendants. Other animals in the species are unaffected. You might have a situation where the new mutation out competes the local population and 100% of the local population has the new mutation. But over the other side of the mountain, the mutation may never arrive. Or on another island.

The animal may never travel to the next island so there the old species still exists.
