This is absolutely one of the weirdest franchises to base an action adventure movie around. It was as if the producers and the writers decided to take a character from a series made for younger children then give her the Lara Croft/Indiana Jones treatment. There is also some questionable content in the film that may not be suited for younger audiences while it also tries to appeal to younger audiences in terms of humor.
The characters, including Dora, in one scene end up hallucinating in an animated world after they've been exposed to some poisonous spores. The four main teenagers also get kidnapped and shipped to the jungle in a crate as if they were being trafficked. Dora is also the kind of kid that would bring weapons to school and she isn't afraid to wield a machete. Let us not forget that Boots the Monkey has a scene where he is voiced by none other than Danny Trejo.
It wasn't that bad of a flick to tell you the truth. Though if you want a decent jungle movie then I would suggest Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie, but as a secondary choice this film wasn't a complete waste of time. It just feels somewhat weird that this was a movie inspired by an educational kids cartoon about learning Spanish.
