The Apollo rockets that went to the moon went like 24,000 mph though....speed has improved a bit.

Of course it took 950,000 gallons of fuel to get to the moon which is just 238,000 miles away.
Which means we'd need so much fuel to get to Mars we'd need a huge ass spacecraft to carry the fuel.
