I don't understand why they would willingly fund such a garbage concept of a movie as much as they did. Even got grade-A actors in on it.

The main “actors” are two singers and a talk show host. Lord have mercy. Who couldn’t see the fail a mile away?!

Viewed the play years years ago in New York on Broadway and enjoyed it.
Took a GF to Cats in West Los Angeles and we enjoyed it. Cats come into the Audience and interact so no two nites will be the same. In both places the Stage literally goes directly into the front row - Cats meld with the Audience
None of that will translate to a movie version Currently - VR may be one way to pull it off.
