My crazy uncle has hunted artifacts for decades...and once he showed me a long metal rod (probe) and said he would hunt for the burial sites where the goodies where with it..
He said he would poke it into the ground and sometimes hit bone and the end would have whitish residue from where it hit bone..
He has a basement full of nice finds..
