Well, first off there have been studies that show that women's bathrooms are in fact more dirty, but honestly I think that has something to do with a skew of baby changing stations in mostly female bathrooms for a long time.
Anyways there's three fucking teenagers I live with and three other adult females and they have the God damn common courtesy to at least not leave blood exposed to the open air. It's not a shame on them for having the function, but if you know it's something you have to deal with your whole life, and take sanitation into factor, then there is no reason a bathroom should be left messy by any person, Male or female.

The OP is making a big deal out of society's supposed double standard for men leaving the seat up.
Nobody, not even other girls, wants to fucking see blood lying around. There's a deeply rooted instinctual response to seeing blood, not so much with a toilet seat.
Seeing blood sucks objectively more, but that's WHY this thread is stupid, because nobody I know would give more of a fuck about the toilet lid being up than actual human blood lying around.
Besides, men leave the toilet seat up so much more than women ever leave a dirty bathroom... And that's a voluntary act which actually has a solution: men need to stop being fucking lazy!
