> 14. Elliott Smith- Self Titled
> 24. Tool- Lateralus
The only 2 that would make my list.
Did you limit yourself to one album per band here? Because you've got Lateralus but no Aenima. You've got OK Computer but no (far superior) Kid A. Elliott Smith self-titled but no Either/Or. Adore but no Mellon Collie.

Yeah I tried to limit it to 1 album per band. You're right Aenima is also an awesome album... was a toss-up between The Bends and OKC (Not too fond of Kid A), and I was also conflicted about which Pumpkins or E. Smith album to pick. When you're trying to keep it to 30, some gems get missed...

I'd be interested to read your list without the one album per band limit. I see you have decent musical taste and knowledge.

Thanks, Father...when I get some down-time I'll compose a Top 50 of the Last 50 Years list with multiple albums per band...

Godsmack never released an album called "Alive". Did you mean "Awake"?

yeah, was going based on my weed-clouded memory; thanks for the correction

Not really my taste, I do think OK Computer ushered a new era of music though. Something about it is just extremely haunting as it was basically a vision of our dystopic future. Most of the stuff I like is a bit too eclectic to be considered best album of the year but if I were to offer something it would be Wilco: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot for 2002. It pretty much captured in a bottle the general feeling of malaise in the early 00's.

Great album, but nothing ground-breaking. It did nothing Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon didn't do 25 years eariier, and infinitely better. Their one and only truly ground-breakng album was Kid A. That is a challenging, unique record, and so brave to release it after the massive success of OK Computer.

It was on a similar level in that it was a picture of the current conditions of their times. Regardless I think both are great snapshots of their decades.
