Air embolism can cause strokes, but you'd have to have A LOT of air injected for one to be likely or slightly smaller amount injected very v. swiftly, but still a lot of air not to be detected by equipment or any of the several professionals that have to handle the IV admixture before it makes it to you, the patient. Certainly more than a few bubbles or whatever gases remain in an IV solution, tubing, etc.
