Topic: Help Me Get Back On My Feet

Background: I am an ex-librarian who has been on disability for 4 years with bi-polar and psychosis. I have been hospitalized 5 times for suicide attempts, as life has grown unbearable. I am getting help from the Canadian Mental Health Association, although I still struggle to make ends meet on a fixed income.

Being born with a facial deformity (cleft lip & palate), I have had to have countless re-constructive surgeries and have long struggled with body image issues and social ostracization.

For years, I also struggled with addictions to alcohol, marijuana, shrooms, LSD, crack, cocaine, oxy's, MDMA, etc. most of which I have quit for about 6 months, yet I have lost most of my friends and supports due to my addictions.

In the past year, I have been homeless for a brief period and have had to stay at a crisis shelter.

I bear numerous scars from self-harming, which I would like to get removed.

I long to re-enter the workforce, but lack the motivation to even get out of bed most days, as hundreds of job applications have gone unanswered or been rejected.

I am a vegan and animal-lover, who dreams of starting their own small animal sanctuary one day, although poverty keeps me from realizing this dream at-present.

I am currently in need of funds to purchase: food, household supplies, bus passes, clothing, a computer and television, and other basic necessities.
