Could manpower be utilized as a source of electricity?
I imagine you could feed them nutraloaf and that takes care of your food budget for them.
Give them at least six hours on a treadmill or something then alternate to other slaves. You just have to break their spirits so they don't rebel.

Slavery is around today. The figures here
https://www.colorlines.com/articles/where-slavery-still-exists are pre-Libya. But that's 29 million enslaved mostly in Africa (by Arabs) and India (by Indians).
And now Libya has open slave markets.
The figures also leave out the forced labor camps in North Korea. Though Japan has forced labor in its prisons too.
Slavery existed for 100,000 years until white people went on a moral crusade worldwide to stop it. And today the people who tried to end slavery are the ones who are blamed for it. It shows how sick our society is.
