The huge space rock is currently moving alongside Earth, and some believe it is a sign that the end is near.“If it were our decision, we would choose the asteroid 2012 TC4 to be the Apocalyptic one.”
Asteroid 2012 TC4 will whizz past Earth at a distance of just 31,000 miles – around an eighth of the distance between the Earth and the moon.
At between 10 and 30 metres in size, it is believed to be bigger than the Chelyabinsk meteor which exploded above Russia, damaging thousands of buildings and injuring 1,500 people in 2013.
Christian website The Michael Gabriel Raphael (MGR) Foundation says the Bible speaks of a passing comet which will symbolise the end of the world.
The website reads: “Biblical prophecy speaks of an asteroid or a comet: And the second angel sounded the trumpet: and as it were a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast into the sea, and the third part of the sea became blood: [Apocalypse 8:8].
“Catholic prophecy also speak of this and the Old Testament uses the ‘sound of a comet’ - which may have meant something else at that time - as a method to welcome Our Lord.
“And all Israel brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord with joyful shouting, and sounding with the sound of the comet, and with trumpets, and cymbals, and psalteries, and harps. [1 Chronicles 15:28].
“With long trumpets, and sound of comet. Make a joyful noise before the Lord our king: [Psalms 97:6].”
It goes on to say that October 12, when the asteroid passes, holds special significance as it is exactly 100 years since the alleged Miracle of the Sun of Fatima – where over 70,000 people in Portugal claimed to see the sun “zig zag” across the sky and emit radiant colours.
The website concludes: “Considering that ‘It is about that time’ already and considering its perfect symbolism....
