Topic: is this site related to otakutalk.org?
+raspberry !BkZ9MKvKeo — 8.8 years ago #49,077
My site has been getting a fuckton of spam that all link to Russian spam threads on otakutalk.org and I can't seem to find any way to contact the admin of that site, so I'm hoping he at least browses here and responds.
I have no idea how to post there even though it seems to be full of spam every-time I visit.
(Apologies if these two sites are unrelated. They just look a bit similar in layout and this site is linked there.)

I can post there and will be happy to post any message you want me to. Otakutalk is spam bombed almost every day and someone cleans up the spam
I C it is currently locked down nor will I post your message until it remains clean for a while but I will bump your message for a few days

Can you repost my thread there then? Thank you.

Sure will do but I do not see how it will help because - well because they clearly do not have the tools to keep spam out and have a lot of cleaning to do almost daily.
One of our Mods did some really nice graphic work and other stuff for that site. As far as I No I am the only one that keeps one post current almost every day.
Thing is if THEY cannot control their own spam I do not see how they can help you.
This site has powerful spam controls and updated software

I'm very sorry about that. The spam problem has gotten so bad recently that I've had to block all new user accounts from being created, but the bots still have hundreds if not thousands of IDs already created that they can still use to spam the board with. Unfortunately the mod tools were not very powerful (and somewhat flawed) at the time the site was set up and so I'm in a bit of a bind.

Don't you already have an ID? I've seen you post before, so you should be able to continue if you kept your cookies or set a memorable password.

So Y Not UPGRADE that software to the software that is used Here?
You can also switch to cloudflare/Cloudflare.com at NO Cost and they block 95% of Spam

That must be awful, but I'm not really very happy seeing pic related every week. I know it's not you doing it, but if you don't fix your spam problem and make these bots stop linking to spam threads on your site then I'll have to contact your service provider about it.
Not intended to be a threat, but I really have no other option. I didn't really get very much spam before a few months ago.
The (censored) image here has posts with pedo spam that link to threads of your site with more pedo spam.

Blaming victims doesn't help anything dude. Spam of any sort, but particularly cp spam, is a serious issue and while it's generally considered illegal, there's really no recourse to put a stop to the perps through legal actions. All the advice people can give to site owners is "become a better programmer". Well that's great for people who want to be programmers, but for those of us who just wanted to run a small forum and don't have a particular interest in programming it's a huge slap in the face. It's not 1996 anymore, there's no reason running a website should be exclusive to uber-nerds.
@532,022 (raspberry !BkZ9MKvKeo)
Believe me, I understand your frustration. I'm paying for a domain which has gone virtually unused by anyone besides myself for 4 years, then suddenly this summer bots start showing up en-masse and flooding the place with spam and cp forcing me to lock new users out just as the doujin releases have started to bring new people in. Now I find out these assholes aren't just spamming me but are also co-opting my domain as a home base of sorts to spam links on other people's sites.
That said, the board has been on lockdown for blank IDs for 48 hours, so whatever threads are being linked in your screenshot are either spam threads that had already been deleted when you were hit, or are legit threads that have had the spam replies removed. If you intend to contact service providers, I'd recommend contacting the ones which are being posted from and letting them know that their proxy service is being used to distribute illicit materials.

That was NOT what I was trying to say. You do NOT need to program anything. ALL THE PROGRAMMING is complete and ready for you to install!!
I did this Step one - Looked to see exactly what software you are using and YIKES are you Lucky. You are using version #1 and the programmer has spent the last 7+ years upgrading "her software" and publishing it on GetHub.
So I am going to suggest this to you -
Go to
https://webirc.datnode.net:7798/#tinychan
Type into chat Josephs and see if he is around - You could even leave him a link to get back to you or check the chat site every few hours or whatever works for you. No doubt you have a quality connection as in person here at TC -
On
Bottom line is all you really need to do is upgrade your current version of some ultra old software to the current version AND hummmmm there are a few things I do not want to publish, but I am even betting you could even end up saving a few $$$ in the process and for sure a huge amount of time in clean up
So talk to
On and Josephs -

I need to add
With the upgraded software and one of a couple of other things that cost you nothing
Spam is GONE - Never a problem
Never might be one hit every few months if that

Well I did post, that's right but it seems like I logged out the next time I visited
My account doesn't log me back in either. I just get a white screen or php error and when I refresh I go back to the front page
here my account works fine though

Here no account is required. For instance I do not have an account.
Could be at some point you cleared your important cookie or have a different computer.

They all require accounts, it's just managed as a cookie rather than the typical sign-up-and-choose-a-username-that-all-your-posts-will-be-visibly-associated-with method.

I take back what I said because that is a tracking cookie and stats end up being somewhat important on occasion. For instance you need X number of posts on MC b4 you can vote.
Still one can use this site without accepting a cookie.

I wrote the "spam controls" myself.
Do you see the "MODERATED" next to the post headers? It means only staff can see it. But sometimes a few bots manage to pass it.

Dude I have no clue what your site is about or where it is so I C nada
I do see otakutalk.org? has been clean as a whistle which makes it more easy for me not to dig up other images to repost my quality off topic post and that is nice.
So exactly what is your website about re content or lack of?
