Topic: The Orville is actually pretty good.

It proved to be a more fun show than STD.

Not only does it sound gay, but it must be because you like it.

There's no way the Orville isn't a pile of shit. Seth MacFarlane is a hack and I hope he dies soon

@OP
I'm pretty impressed with it too. Having watched the third episode, I'm wondering if it would be just as good without the humor.

Second.
I'm tired of Seth MacFarlane repackaging the same shitty jokes over and over.

Star Trek still had humor too. I think they want to do a more serious driven show with humor thrown in then just a comedy show as evident by that episode and how light the first two were. That episode felt more like Trek than the first two or the season premiere of STD.

It's actually not Family Guy in space.

I watched the 1st and decided to continue recording it. Problem with episode #2 was it was cut off by the football game so I had to pull it up via on demand which MEANT I fuking had to watch the commercials and FOX has one hell of a lot of commercials nor can you fast forward

I wish they had more meat in the scripts - Effects are good but it needs better scripts/writing and editing

Seriously, episode three was so close to classic TNG that they could have swapped Brent Spiner for Isaac and virtually nobody would have noticed. Ending on that somewhat bitter note was just one of the factors that pushed the script into Star Trek territory.

Maybe that is the intention? Maybe MacFarlane knows that STD will be shit.
Of course, this is most likely due to some of the writers being known Star Trek writers.
And oh shit, according to Wikipedia, Jonathan Frakes directed an episode.
