Around 1 p.m., the number of quality USA Loyal counter-protesters, at roughly 400 vastly outnumbered the confederate racist protesters.
Organizer Tom Pierce walked up the hill at 1 p.m. carrying a sign reading, "Stand Against Leftist Hate" to catcalls, hisses and boos from hundreds of counter-protesters on the opposite side of 17th St.
